[Mobile Gaming] How the Nyan Cat led to the death knell for a popular mobile game- the downfall of RWBY Amity Arena.
Note: Many of the links are to the Amity Arena Library, a website devoted to the game which includes tracking the history of it through patchnotes and a running history of what cards entered and left the meta. Their website was a valuable resource for this post.
Mobile gaming has taken off like a wildfire since the advent of the smartphone boosted the average processing power a phone could carry. Initially it took the form of crossing over older, more easily runnable games onto the mobile market to... mixed success, but in recent years we've seen both the West and East use mobile gaming to replace the old fashioned movie tie in game. It's easily accessable, has a much wider reach than consoles or PC, you can take it on the go and standards are inherently lower for mobile games than they are a full 60 dollar game. Since the 2010s, mobile gaming has shifted to what's called the "Freemium" module. The game itself is free to download and start playing, but is insideously designed with obnoxious paywalls or artificial limiters put in place to limit how much you can play each day. If the game is part of a pre-existing franchise, additional money can be made through a premium currency or a chance to obtain high-powered units by rolling a slot machine random chance mechanic. And thus, gacha gaming was born. This sub has had several threads in the past on high profile gacha games, such as the monolithic Fate Grand/Order, Pokemon Go or Genshin Impact. One of the more popular things to roll for in gachas as a consequence is wallpapers for your homescreen, especially for high-grade units as they're usually animated to move a little bit on the homescreen. Today we're looking a low to mid-tier gacha game that rose and fell with the advent of one catgirl. Let's talk RWBY. RWBY is an online web anime made by Rooster Teeth focusing on four prospective monster hunters who get embroiled in a world-spanning shadow war. It's of debatable quality in matters of animation, combat, voice acting, story, worldbuilding, romance, and it's kind of a little racist if I'm being honest, but one of the major positives of RWBY is that the series tends to have good character design. Series creator Monty Oum set in the guidelines for the show while making it that most if not every design should be made to be cosplay friendly, hence why most of the outfits have things most costume designers haven't heard of like... pockets. And Rooster Teeth, above all else, likes making money. So they know people like RWBY's character designs, enough so that in 2017 plans were made to release a gacha game themed around RWBY called Amity Arena, which would be developed by Korean company NHN Entertainment. Amity Arena is a PvP tower defense game. Each player controls two turrets and a tower and has three minutes to use units themed from the show to destroy the other player's structures. Whoever took out more wins, destroying a tower is an instant victory. When the game launched, it had three tiers for units- Common (generally held for mooks or low-tier characters in the show), Rare (roughly protagonist-level or elite mooks go here) and Epic (High tier characters usually with an active ability that did lots of damage or stopped enemies in their tracks). The game launched in October 2018 to generally positive reviews from both mobile game players and RWBY fans alike. Fans were happy to get a lot of new official art for the characters in the game and the base gameplay loop was fun. Criticism at the time was largely themed around the lack of content besides PVP matches and some issues with the meta but overall, the launch went well. Each month, the developers would add new units, including popular characters like Neopolitian, Cinder Fall, Zwei the dog, and more. But everything changed with February 20th 2019, which introduced Neon Katt, the titular catgirl (RWBY characters are themed around fairytales, except for Neon, who is themed around Nyan Cat, and her partner Flynt Coal, who is themed off a potentially racist joke made by Rooster Teeth). Neon is a character from RWBY Volume 3 who's part of a team that RWBY face during a tournament arc. Her partner, Flynt Coal, was part of the game at launch, and Neon would join him a few months later. Neon in the show is a cocky fighter who taunts the heroes and zips around on rollarskates, which in-game is represented by Neon skating towards the nearest enemy structure to her and hitting it, while all units within a radius of Neon are taunted and provoked into attacking her above all other targets unless they-selves are coded to hit structures. On its own, not a bad idea for a unit, but Neon came with four big caveats:
Neon was the fourth corner of the square that became known as the Artillery Arena meta, which saw Neon, Cinder (who had an AOE ability she could use which was wide enough to hit a turret and tower and single-handedly killed the entire launch meta of using fragile swarm units), Zwei (an on-summon high damage AOE on any part of the map) and Penny (another AOE ability that instead did chip damage and locked a location down) turn the game's meta into a chip game. Every player ran at least one of the above cards, if only to counter the others. Neon was the universal counter in being anti-swarm and the hardest to stop, especially at launch where her taunt range was so large, it could grab units from the other lane.
Neon launched with a unit weight of "Heavy", which meant that if she was behind a unit she could push it on her way to the turret. This launched a sub-meta where Neon was placed behind a larger unit such as the Ursa (which like Neon was a unit that focused on structures but was made slow to cover its tankiness), to push them towards the turret faster. This was called Disco Bear. They eventually patched this so Neon phased through units by making her a lightweight.
Neon couldn't die. She was invincible until she hit a structure, which combined with her taunt meant that Neon was very annoying to fight and could lock down an entire lane of the battlefield by being placed well and taunting enemies to let you prepare a counter.
Neon was a very cheap unit to summon. Amity Arena uses a mechanic called "Aura" where all units cost a certain amount and it recharges over the match- for instance, protagonist Ruby Rose has a Rare card that costs four Aura to summon, while Weiss Schnee has two rares that cost three and five. Neo only cost two Aura, which made her one of the cheapest units of the game and thus disproportionately powerful for her cost and easy to cycle through your deck so you could spam her.
From the word go, Neon is an unpopular unit; she's clearly overbalanced and elements such as the Disco Bear glitch have players thinking she'll have to get knocked down in a nerf- she'll either be made slower, more expensive, or able to die pre-hitting a structure, right? Neon doesn't show up in the next patch. Instead, before she's fixed, an entire new class of units called Legendaries are introduced, and this is where the game goes full gacha. Legendaries were meant to represent the highest tier characters in the game, the ones who were either the most popular characters or the highest-tier fighters in the show. Or in some cases, the popular ships such as combo cards for White Rose (Ruby/Weiss), Bumblebee (Blake/Yang) and Flower Power (Ren/Nora). Legendaries, representing their value, were impossibly rare and had an infinitely small chance of actually appearing (The most reliable method was to buy the premium chests and hope you'd roll a Legendary, which often cost tons of money), and if you did get one, there was no way to guess which Legendary you'd actually get. Some such as White Rose and Adam were high tier units, others like Hazel or Checkmate were... kinda broken at launch. The playerbase isn't happy at this, especially as free to play players are left out in the cold and reliant on the game giving them high tier units effectively out of pity. Neon would get a small nerf in the April patch which lessened her taunt range and killed the Disco Bear meta, but her invincibility would be left untouched, even as players submitted feedback regarding how to make it more efficient. The official Amity Arena discord has a weekly feedback section on Tuesdays where players could submit up to four suggestions on how to nerf/buff units and general requests for quality of life such as "Can this character get a new skin from this part of the show," or "Can we have an option to lower music volume that's not just muting all music?" (they never did add that second request) Neon would then remain in this state until the November patch, despite constant weekly requests for a Neon rework, and all it would do is make Neon functionally mortal, in that she had a flat shield bar of 20 that would be lowered by one for each attack before the next hit would kill her. Neon could now die... but your chances of actually doing enough damage to stop her were slim, and regardless, you were now at a serious Aura defecit. It took seven months for this one unit to get a substantial nerf, all while the game added new units every week and the number of units being affected by patches each month began to gradually sink. To round up some of the major issues people had with Amity that developed throughout 2019 alongside Neon's general existance making life hell:
Common units were meant to be chump fodder, but could level up the most amount of times with a level cap at 13. This meant longer-term units that had a long time to level such as the Xiong Family card, the AK-130s the Beowolf Pack, or the White Fang gunners, could become shockingly strong if players grinded the money up to reach max level.
A pre-existing divide between free players and players willing to burn money IRL to get access to premium currencies led to a huge disparity in play. Free players have long complained about how hard it is to scrounge money together to level up units at higher costs as even the basic currency of Lien is hard to get large quantities of (you get a certain amount every match win but otherwise you need to burn the Schnee Premium Dust currency for the highest payouts, but SPD is also needed for shop resets, buying crates or unlocking cosmetics). The developers used to do frequent double weekends where all gains were doubled for a weekend, but these became less and less frequent as time went on. Legendaries only added to the divide, as their rarity was bad enough for players willing to spend money (one player, known as one of the largest whales in the community, in trying to get Sienna Khan, reported burning nearly nine hundred dollars on her, while taking nearly six hundred to get the Ice Flower card).
One actual counter was born to fight Neon in the Argus Shield, a stationary unit that existed solely to stall units and take damage. At 2 Aura, it was the first structure to counter Neon, which allevated one of the primary problems with Neon in that no way to counter her was cost-efficient for an enemy player. They buffed the Wall to 3 Aura eventually which killed that hope, and all this happened before Neon's November nerf.
The Summer of 2019 saw a large number of defensive units released; alongside the Argus Shield, several different units were released themed around turrets for the technological kingdom of Atlas, such as the Beam Turret. The Atlesian Burrow Gun was the straw that broke the camel's back and made for a miserable meta as the Burrow Gun would only appear (and be available to take damage) when a unit entered its range. These three units together were all very overpowered on launch and led to a large exodus of players sick of defensive and chip-based metas, especially as what few offensive units that were good enough to counter these metas (such as Professor Port and Adam Taurus) were often nerfed into the ground within a month of release.
Also around this time it became apparent that the developers were unable to meet the quotas that Rooster Teeth was forcing on them. The social media team admitted that a certain number of units needed to be in the game in time for Winter 2019 when Volume 7 was set to start, and as the year went on more and more game-breaking bugs were being found in units, or they were at best horrifically undertuned or overpowered. The Apathy was perhaps the largest case of this, as an unfound bug pre-release meant that the Apathy (who have a passive ability that let them self-duplicate) had no cap on their power, meaning that they could immediately overwhelm defenses and in the case of some phones, be such a resource hog the phone would crash. Many Legendary units were especially guilty of being under-tuned due to low Legendary availability meaning they were simply weren't powerful enough to compare with high-levelled units. Checkmate's ability simply didn't work at launch, and Neon made several more such as Hazel Rainart a joke. May Marigold's invisibility bubble would have been an interesting game changer... were it not for a bug that made it that units placed in the bubble still played their sound lines, meaning players knew what to expect. Things were so bad that when Flower Power launched and wasn't broken or needed an emergency patch, the playerbase were shocked.
Unfortunately, the Novemember patch did little to stop the problems with Neon, and a new problem would rear its head for Christmas: Jinn. This unit embodied many of the problems players had: She was a Legendary so it would be hard for free players to get her, and only added to the sheer number of Legendaries that were out there. She was another structure card, and she was horrifically broken. Stopping time for seven seconds in an area around any friendly units, Jinn broke the game overnight, with players horrified at how little playtesting she'd clearly had. Most chip units now couldn't damage structures as Jinn simply could stop time and freeze the turret for the duration of the attack. And to make matters worse? She cost two Aura, meaning it was very easy to cycle a deck and start Jinn spamming. And yet at two aura she was still one of the only cost-efficient Neon counters... until they patched her to be worth three Aura instead. Talking of the feline menace, January saw Neon get a HP nerf that set her shield at 14. Finally, Neon could be realistically be taken out, still at an Aura defecit but at least it can be countered and now they just have to raise her Aura- why are you buffing her game? Less than a month later, Neon got, of all things, a buff. Her HP shield was set at 20, and her attacks now did double damage. This is around the point where a lot of players begin to suspect the developers aren't listening to feedback and more long-term players dip out or drop the game. Neon got touched one more time in April, which slowed her down (which itself was a problem as Neon's lessened speed on spawn simply made her better at generating aggro), she dealt 10% less damage and made it somewhat easier to hit her enough to kill her, but a new problem was on the horizon. Because Neon was now no longer the game's White Whale for patches. Meet the White Fang Gunner Barracks. Added in September 2019, the Barracks fell under many player's radar simply because they were horrifically undertuned. Their gimmick was that every few seconds, a White Fang Gunner would spawn, with three spawning on death. In April, as Neon got her last appearance in the patches, the Barracks got a huge buff and became the centerpiece of the meta; they now spawned two Gunners, which made them immensely valuable for just five Aura. You could overwhelm many anti-swarm units before they had a chance, and shred your way through turrets. The Barracks would then go six months before this overtuning was rectified, barring one nerf in August that lowered their health to try and stem the tide of units. To sum up every other thing that went wrong during the year meta-wise:
The playercount was getting so low that players were able to make lists of the AI bots the developers had in place so lower-level players had a challenge (Amity breaks up players by a trophy system where you gain trophies with every win, and by this point most of the active players were in the 2500 to 3500 range. This also meant new players steamrolled through the lower levels only to hit a brick wall in the 3000 range, with the only reliable solution being to willingly lose matches until you were in your optimal range and grind victories until you reached a certain level.
The patches became more and more threadbare, going from 8+ units getting changed each month in early 2019 to three units at most getting changed in 2020 patches outside of the anniversary patch going back to the golden days of eight. The only area where they didn't get more threadbare was in the cosmetics and emotes that the developers were cranking out, all of which were only available through hours of grinding or premium currencies. This was despite the fact that the units were being released slower, going from once a week to once a fortnite.
The majority of units added in 2020 were Epic or Legendary tier, which were the hardest to get for free players unless they got lucky and they were added to the store (and if they had the lien as a Legendary in the store costs a flat 40,000 Lien). One Common and four Epics were released compared to twelve Epics and seven Legendaries. The release of Moonslice Adam especially was annoying for this regard, as Adam already had a Legendary released (at least for Team RWBY, each of them headlined a Legendary when it came to the team attack cards), and this was clearly done to pander to Adam's fans again as his first unit saw a spike in interest in the game. The math was done and showed how artifically scarce Legendaries were made.
The undeovertuning was still in play. Colossus is seen as one of the worst cards in the entire game because of its gimmick. I have literally never seen anyone play it. Flynt became overtuned and now he's a staple thanks to his trumpet's AOE attack being able to hurt turrets and shred most units. Launcher Nora was an especially overtuned unit thanks to her high-damage constant AOE barrage and long range meaning she could annhilate most anything if given enough cover. Even after patches she's still dangerous. September saw the White Fang Dropship Formation added, which was widely seen as a terrible unit and done as an emergency addition because the planned unit for September in the Grimm Seer had to be cut last minute for technical reasons.
The game has barely had significant content added since launch, with the primary gameplay still just being PVP. Barring Battle of Beacon (a mode where you can play as Ruby and Weiss and fend off Grimm which most players just use to grind chests, and no, they still haven't added Blake or Yang) and Plaza (a lobby where you can dress up as a character and run around Beacon), the game has added no new features and quality of life content players have requested since launch (rerolling in the shop, Superior Crates having guaranteed Legendary spawn rates) have been released at a snail's pace (you still can't reroll Legendaries if you're looking for a specific unit). Academies where players can unite to trade units and chat still lacks features that have been requested for years such as the ability to delete messages. And Plaza immediately went to hell because players were doing erotic role play in the chats and after people came forward with proof that minors were being sexually harassed in the Plaza or being coerced into side-channels, the dev response was to... just turn off the chat entirely instead of banning the accounts or implementing moderation. This also removed the chatlog which deleted a lot of the evidence of said harassment.
As OctobeNovember comes in, the players are getting more and more furious. The weekly feedback includes a near constant demand for an acknowledgement from the developers given how often it feels like the feedback is being ignored. The social media team get caught several times hyping up how the coming patch would address player concerns, only for said patch to lack those units. The meta has been locked down to the Xiong Family, Flynt, Launcher Nora, Spider-Mines and the hell-cat herself in Neon. Everyone runs at least one of these, people run meta decks not because they want to, but because it's the only way to have a chance of victory. And then in December, things implode. The patch for the month was set to launch on December 10th with the monthly event missions. But when the clock rolls around, the event missions (which usually take about two weeks to do if you're doing as many as you can a day)... has a six day timer. And the update doesn't come out. The art team doesn't release new unit art. The shop has no special timed bundles. There's no patch notes. And then the Twitter team who've been hard carrying the game through... actually talking to the players and acknowledging the grievances they have... admitted that they don't know what's going on either. The best guess is that the devs have come down with Covid, but no statements to confirm or deny this leave it as guesswork. The timer eventually got reset and people could do the event, but then on Christmas itself, another issue. Ruby has appeared in the plaza on Halloween (her canonical birthday) and Christmas, and if you go talk to her you get free stuff. But on Christmas people, people discovered that Ruby was talking as if you'd already talked to her. Because they hadn't updated Ruby yet for 2020. She still thought it was 2019 so if you'd talked to her then for goodies, she had none now. They patched it eventually but a lot of people didn't see this fix before the timer ran out to get the free stuff. Some have resorted to memes to cope with the fact that the game just seems to have died out of the blue. Others have been trying to desperately rally the players and find a way to save it. Some resorted to friendly mockery of the whales who'd spent thousands on a game that seems to be dying (seriously though gacha games need to curb this shit but they won't because whales are godsends for their bank balances). If the game doesn't get an update in January then two months without new content will mark the end, and the already significant playercount drops will only increase. And it's hard to say if any one thing could have turned Amity Arena's fate around beyond just "Have a better balancing team who can respond better to feedback." Neon began the time of death, but by the time December rolled around the meta was in a horrifically toxic place where if you wanted to make any progession, you had to get down and dirty with the pigs. The team just constantly failed to balance problem units outside of their emergency hotfixes of Jinn, and more often then not they went after units and buffed or nerfed them at random going off playcounts to determine what needed fixing instead of the actual written feedback they were getting. It's clear from the references to the show and some of the attempts to reach out to the community that at least one person in the team genuinely wanted to make the good appealing to RWBY fans, but somewhere during the game's lifespan, they lost their way. Less focus needed to be put on how to milk the players, and instead focusing on making a game sustainable and enjoyable enough to warrant the cosmetics and emotes. The game's failure ultimately isn't on the playerbase. It's on the people who were actually making the game who chose to slack off because they thought it acceptable to do so. Thanks for reading. First is grinding them on leveling maps. Corpse dragging is a resource efficient way to grind XP. The where and how.Dragging 0-2. Second is using Combat Reports. You can get them in the Forward Basecamp or through the Data Room. You can give them by going to the Dorm>Warehouse>Gift tab or going to your owned doll profile and tapping the + button by the EXP bar. Note that they are not affected by dummy link EXP multiplier. They give 3000 fixed EXP per report. Last one is the EXP mode combat sim. Total EXP per run is divided equally between all dolls present.
Is GFL being phased out/abandoned?
NO.

When do I do night campaigns?
Best metric would be when career quests send you there. Unlock them by completing the next chapter's emergency map (i.e. 11-4e unlocks 10-1n). Remember to equip PEQs to negate the accuracy penalty and bring HGs for map vision.
Is it worth to reroll in this game?
Depends on what you value more. If you want a pretty easy time until endgame, no need. Game gives you free strong dolls. Endgame? Mostly not, since this is a game of accumulation instead of meta characters.

ARSMG first, then whichever second ARSMG or RFHG you need more, then the other one you haven't made yet, then MGSG if you want.

Well yes... as a stat stick. Can't use a Strategy Fairy skill in theater mostly because you can't tap a node to activate it in the first place. Stick to Combat Fairies if you want to use skills.

Is it a night map? If it is, refer to night CE. If it still doesn't let you, increase CE, some required CE are listed wrong.

Do support echelons use equipments?
Equipments, formation, and apparently costumes too are saved instances. Doll levels, equipment levels, skill levels, and chibi aren't.
I can't deploy a friend echelon. What do I do?
"Unable to deploy Support Echelon before the mission starts!". Maybe it's possible to set support echelon after starting the mission". If it's still a no, restart or check how many are allowed.

Combat Missions: If there is a new night map, SPEQ rate up for X-4n. Combat/Campaign: 1.5x EXP Logistics: Great Success Rate Up Combat sim: All simulations unlocked.
Which should I prioritizein the Data Room, Combat Reports or Special Combat Reports?
SCRs primarily because you can just EXP sim, corpse drag, and auto-battle the dolls, and also because basecamp sells far more CR than SCR. Note that you'd need 5000 SCRs to fully level a fresh HOC.

Part 4: Monetization
Reintroduction
Monetization: The Bogeyman of OSRS. At the sound of the word, grown men hide, mothers clutch their infants closer, and mystified Saradominists turn to Zamorak for answers. Truly, there is nothing more feared and hated, nothing that sparks a similar community outrage, quite like the idea of monetizing OSRS. And not without reason. One of the biggest issues that caused players to drop everything from Runescape 2 or 3 and start afresh on OSRS was the continual frustration at being milked for every penny, and feeling their dedication and accomplishments being boiled down to a couple dollars. This requires special emphasis: people were willing to drop thousands of hours of playtime because of MTX, as well as several notable other reasons (Evolution of Combat, general game direction, etc.). Jagex is acutely aware of this and will very publicly acknowledge it - the fact that if players quit once, they might be willing to do it again if the company oversteps the line. It’s the gun to the head that Upper Management must work around every day. And generally, as it appears by most people’s standards, they haven’t overstepped that line. Bonds remain a special topic, especially the manner in which they were polled, but overall the OSRS team has been very respectful of player desires in this area. As Mat K has made known, this was not accomplished without strife. During his interview with ex-Jmod Shauny, he revealed that he fought frequently with Upper Management against the introduction of microtransactions, stating that it would kill the game. And it appears, for the most part, that he won the argument. Every time anything remotely similar to monetization is discussed, Jagex will repeat the same mantra: Microtransactions are not coming to OSRS.
The Microtransaction Debate
But in the post-Mat K era, discussions on the topic have become a little freer. While the odd individual will pipe up stating that they don’t mind microtransactions, they don’t gain much traction. They may present arguments such as:
1) “I don’t have enough time to play the game normally,” 2) “If it’s just cosmetics that don’t change gameplay, it’s fine,” 3) “I’ll happily pay for conveniences that make my experience better,” 4) “More microtransactions means more money goes to development,” or 5) “You don’t have to buy them, nobody’s forcing you.”
These are usually rapidly shot down by screeching keyboard warriors, but occasionally counterarguments are made:
1) “You not enjoying the game’s design is either a fundamental flaw of the game itself, or the game simply isn’t meant for you. Neither issue should be curable by throwing excess cash at it, but rather by making a better game or reworking your expectations,” 2) “Cosmetics occupy design space and are important to game progression – good cosmetics should be a height to achieve, not a dirt-level, buyable feature. Look no further than RS3’s partyhats or OSRS’s Champion’s Cape – simple aesthetics, but they are given extraordinary value by virtue of the achievement they represent. Paid cosmetics are fine for games like League of Legends where there is no precedent for cosmetics to associate with an achievement; in OSRS, cosmetics are important to game progression, while RS3, which has the same precedent with cosmetics as OSRS, will simply slap the new item in Solomon’s Store with a price tag. For example, the first OSRS Partnerships blog offered a Morytania-themed POH wallkit, but shouldn’t that be a reward for a high level Morytania quest, marking the cosmetic as an achievement and being more thematically appropriate?” 3) “You do, about $11/month. Stop giving a company excuses to nickel and dime you for products and quality of life features that should be included in your membership package. Compare RS3’s buyable bank boosters (extra 50 bank slots) to OSRS’ bank update, which gave several hundred bank slots for free; the only reason why you have to pay for bank slots in RS3 is because they can charge you,” 4) “That’s probably true for caring studios like CD Projekt Red, but this is Jagex where their Upper Management doesn’t care. Just look at the current state of RS3 and describe where all that profit is being invested back besides the MTX team,” and 5) “That’s great till a company learns that MTX can be abused. Look at RS3 – QOL features are now gated behind MTX, MTX events are released as ‘content updates,’ cosmetics aren’t released as part of thematically appropriate content updates but rather as MTX exclusives. What’s more, there’s no feeling quite like getting a major achievement then thinking, ‘Imagine how much time I could’ve saved by paying X dollars!’”
These conversations are usually shorter; I simply write excessively.
The New Approach
More importantly, a new question is being asked: “What defines a microtransaction?” Upper Management loves this question because there is a massive MTX grey zone which players don’t usually consider, or at least they’d like you to believe there’s a grey zone where decisions can be made in their favour. This is most clearly on display in the recent August Gazette, where Mod Mike D says this:
“Old School is a subscription-based MMORPG and it will always remain that way. Yes, you might point to Bonds, but we really see them as a means of getting subscription time in the hands of players who might lack the real-world resources to otherwise afford it. What we ultimately mean by 'subscription-based' is that there's no cash-shop offerings like cosmetics, in-game resources, XP, time-saving mechanics, or anything else you might think of.”
Before accusations start flying, let me explain my stance: I am not against bonds, at least not in a strict sense. I believe that they have some very positive effects, although they do sacrifice some of the game’s integrity. More importantly, I want to focus on how Mike D has reframed bonds. He claims that Jagex essentially doesn’t see bonds as a form of MTX, but rather a way to help players who are poorer in real life… …Right so that’s a lie. Why is Jagex, of all companies, the one who decides what is and isn’t MTX? Bonds are clearly a form of MTX, torn straight from the textbooks: you pay Jagex real money, you get in-game money. If the purpose of bonds is truly as Mike D describes, why wouldn’t membership be directly purchasable with in-game coins at an NPC vendor? No, bonds are here primarily for Jagex to profit, even if there are some genuinely great positives as highlighted by Mike D. It’s absurdly frustrating to see Jagex masking the situation and acting so squeamish about the topic rather than being up-front or simply avoiding addressing it at all if they fear the backlash. Again, regardless of whether bonds ultimately good or bad, it’s important to be aware of how Jagex will sell an idea to the public. Players must recognize that Jagex will readily reframe the products they sell to suit their needs at the expense of the game’s integrity, including the redefining of the term “microtransaction.” This was put to the test in last year’s Partnerships blog, where several cosmetic items and reskins were polled as temporary exclusives to Partnership deals. For example, a promotion with Amazon Prime might offer you the “Explore” emote if you were a Prime member. However, after an unspecified amount of time, this reward would be opened to all players. Although the poll’s response from the community was a resounding “no,” there remained a significant portion of the community who were in support of the idea. After all, the line that marked MTX was blurrier this time, as these Partnership rewards were A) cosmetics only and B) promised that they were only temporary exclusives. Jagex reframed an MTX scheme, albeit a soft one, to no longer appear as such. And while Jagex has now made many very explicit promises that no new MTX will enter the game (and I’ll believe them, for the time being), players should continue to be wary and to confront Jagex with the utmost skepticism. With the same August 2020 Gazette as well as the recent livestream, a large discussion was targeted towards growth of the game and, once again, Partnerships. However, this time a different play was made, and they were very explicit about how this blog was different: Nothing to do with the new Partnerships are to affect any in-game component. …and that’s great. I think there’s been a somewhat visceral reaction to the word “Partnerships” where people assume it’s going to be something detrimental to the game. Although the blog and livestream were fairly nondescript about what kinds of rewards will be presented, thus far all that’s been suggested is membership time. Although there are debates surrounding such rewards (like the botting issue), as a form of monetization focussed on gathering more attention to the game it is harmless to game integrity. At this time of writing, there appears to be no bad faith from Jagex on this one.
Monetization Without Microtransaction
These new developments, however, open up a larger discussion about what they should do with these Partnerships. As described in Part 3 of this series, the growth of the OSRS Team will be expected to see a proportional growth in subscriber numbers. But if that hits the wall, that critical mass of players that OSRS could possibly reach, where does Upper Management look next? Note that all the following is prefaced under the assumption that subscription is the only fee (besides bonds) that may directly impact the gameplay of your OSRS account, as promised by Jagex numerous times. Therefore, Upper Management has started asking: how can we monetize this game without microtransactions? How can we continue to climb in profits if subscriber numbers fail to meet our current expectations? Despite how I’ve framed monetization and Upper Management thus far, this is a perfectly fine question; a business is expected to make profits, and if they can do so in a moral way, then all power to them. Additionally, there are costs to simply running the game – not only do you have server upkeep, but numerous employees to pay, including content developers, artists, marketers, QA, engine developers, customer support, anti-cheat, and so on. However, they haven’t found the perfect solution, not yet, but let’s consider the direction they’ve been eyeing the past while. It’s important to note that the use of “monetization” here is an umbrella term for any system of gathering revenue from the OSRS Intellectual Property, while “microtransaction” specifically concerns gathering revenue from purchases made for features within the OSRS game as it stands in its current form. With Upper Management now looking for the next route to profit, players should start answering these questions: What should $11 per month buy, or what is reasonable for $11 to cover, and what should be considered a fair non-microtransaction monetization scheme? For example, with an LMS competition being announced as a Partnership-exclusive advertisement with the only reward being membership time, what other competitions and rewards may be legitimate to tie to Partnerships? Leagues? PVP championships? Clan Cups? Beta worlds? Speed-run Competitions? Is it reasonable for such events, which have no tangible in-game effect (barring Leagues for its cosmetic rewards) to be gated by Partnership subscription fees? Or should we expect these to be covered by our Runescape subscriptions? Again, precedent is significant, as players already expect a couple of these competitions to be included in their subscription fee like it was in the past, but what about entirely new competitions or out-of-game features? Although it may never come to pass, it would probably be concerning if more and more competitions were pay-walled along with a reduction in effort placed into developing and running regular, Runescape-subscription-only competitions. Before you pass judgement, also consider this: it is likely very agreeable that certain monetization schemes would be legitimate to pay extra for outside of a standard subscription fee, whether that is through Partnerships or not. For example, physical merchandise from Jagex’s online store is a perfectly legitimate way to monetize the OSRS IP, or exclusive physical merchandise given to Partnership competition winners. But for new ideas: if they were to offer an offline, downloadable version of OSRS (let us assume frozen in time and never updated), it would probably be a reasonable one-off purchase that isn’t automatically included in your subscription. Similarly, certain individuals would be very happy to pay extra outside of their regular Runescape subscription for the OSRS devkit to have their own go at development. A strong argument may be made for these features that the $11 subscription fee does not deserve to cover such aspects related to the OSRS IP and are reasonable monetization schemes. But this conversation has not really occurred yet, at least not outside the realm of Jagex HQ. Yet it should be happening, because if the players don’t take a unified and definite stance on what kinds of monetization schemes are fair, then Jagex will happily oblige. If you need proof that Jagex will readily define the terms of monetization, you may remember that they already did with the unpolled purple skin (a temporary exclusive from a Twitch Partnership back in 2018), or look at every RS3 MTX promotion, and it’s difficult to say whether the OSRS Team will be able to provide fairer solutions in the future with Upper Management now breathing down their necks. Perhaps you believe that a simple purple skin is nothing to worry about, but all it takes is for players to be passive and reactive with these topics for Jagex to go along and outline the next contract on their own, and there’s no telling if it will be an honest one. And I don’t think that players really want that.
Discussion
The threat of losing subscribers keeps a firm grip (for now) on Upper Management, preventing them from forcing bold MTX. But under the light of Upper Management’s new perspective on OSRS (as described in Part 2), the potential “indeterminate, mindless growth” of the OSRS Team and playerbase (as described in Part 3), and the greying and reframing of what defines MTX (as described above), is there a risk to the future game’s integrity, perhaps 5 years down the road? How can this be combatted? It’s inevitable that Jagex will continue to seek greater profits, and OSRS is a clear part of that plan. With the desire to help them meet these new demands in the correct manner, what monetization schemes are reasonable to employ under the OSRS IP independent of our current subscription fee? Which ones (besides the obvious MTX) should players take a stance against? They give 3000 fixed EXP per report. Last one is the EXP mode combat sim. Total EXP per run is divided equally between all dolls present.

No. You only lose them if they're absent at the start of the skirmish. On that note, retreating dolls who had their buffs activate will not remove said buff.
Why are the doll skills not activating?
Is the auto skill button on? Is it on forced manual? Is it a flare skill? Skills cannot activate when they cannot shoot, i.e. SG/MG reloading, dolls moving, no enemy in range.
Does retreating a doll during battle/skirmish have an effect on affection points?
Nope. They ONLY lose some if they or other dolls in the group died during mob battles. And auto-battles DO NOT decrease affection points.
Do HP shields stack?
Yes. Still no idea what is older in single frame simultaneous activation.
How do I deal with enemies with armor?
Use dolls that can equip AP ammo.
Do debuffs stick if I retreat my dolls?

Limited dolls on chapters have 0.8% drop rate on normal and 1% on emergency. Event farms have around 1%. 5★ on normal maps have rates way below 1%... usually. 10-4E Shrimp seems quite easy to get.
How do I know the final value of the doll stats? And what are the caps for each stat?
Beware. Formula inside. 99999 for final damage. FOR ROF, it's listed on the formation screen, but in reality, it's by 5, so max for 120 is 116, i.e. 116-120 ROF has no difference. Crit Rate is 100% as per common sense.
Can I set the damaged art as permanent?
Only on the main screen. When choosing adjutants, tap the arrow on the upper-right when positioning.
Additional line for oath, higher affection cap, double EXP gain (map EXP, auto-battles, CRs) on MODs, complete repair and resupply.

Does her costume have one? Is she strictly on a single adjutant slot? Is the L2D toggle in settings on? Is the L2D toggle in adjutant postioning on? If yes, it should be.

Is it a night map? If it is, refer to night CE. If it still doesn't let you, increase CE, some required CE are listed wrong.

Do support echelons use equipments?
Equipments, formation, and apparently costumes too are saved instances. Doll levels, equipment levels, skill levels, and chibi aren't.

"Unable to deploy Support Echelon before the mission starts!". Maybe it's possible to set support echelon after starting the mission". If it's still a no, restart or check how many are allowed.

Why not both? Though if it's strictly one or the other, depends on the armor value of the enemy and your armor penetration. Damage if you're far from penetrating them, Damage or Crit. Damage if it's about sub 20 to full penetration.

BUGS
Patch #1's notes mention that Mom's Shovel now counts towards the Mom transformation. However, this is still untrue.
You can save and continue twice to get your Holy Mantle shield back, meaning that this exploit still exists despite an attempted patch
Dark Red The Thing Champions, the ones that were disabled in the last patch because of buggy behavior, may still be able to spawn in Greedier mode.
Some people are reporting major audio-balancing issues ever since the patch, with sound effects nearly silent/muffled with music being loud/fine. This could be hard to troubleshoot without hardware info from people experiencing the bug.
"Multichannel audio still seems to be bugged on Windows. Music comes from the front left and front right channels and sound effects come from the rear right and rear left channels. This happens in 5.1, 7.1, and Dolby Atmos for Home Theater settings via HDMI to a home theater receiver." - jedcred
EDIT: jedcred has also reported that he was able to fix this issue by replacing the OpenAL version Isaac ships with with one of the latest versions. This appears to fix the issue and plays back the audio in stereo mode only. While it's unknown if this causes any other issues, it's what appears to have worked for this one user.
In Onan's Streak, taking damage from a tear missing will cancel the "holding trophy" animation, removing the trophy and softlocking the challenge.
Mama Mega causes unavoidable damage when entering rooms that have TNT barrels/mushrooms near the door.
After exhausting most items, the D4 can grant items that haven't been unlocked yet.
The D1, when copying chest, does not copy the chest contents, unlike other duplication items like Jera.
D1 can also duplicate opened chests into unopened copies, unlike Jera.
When Squirts or Dank Squirts are both Feared and Confused at the same time, their physics bug out completely and snap across to different spots in the room.
YO LISTEN! can still point to unreachable crawlspace locations, on pits, poop, and empty tiles.
This also apparently occurs with Dog Tooth's barking sound, reportedly heard in rooms with metal blocks.
Champion versions of the Gush enemy cause them to inflict half a heart of contact damage, despite the Booster 5 changelog mentioning fixing this with most enemies.
Permanently charmed Gush enemies does not spawn any slowing creep, defeating the purpose of having a charmed version of one.
White Champion Pestilence's white creep does not slow the player down.
Incubus (And thus Lilith) and Fate's Reward completely ignore the shot speed stat.
When Ipecac's tear size is big enough (Through various tear-size items or damage ups), the tear will fail to harm most enemies, as the edge of the tear impacts with the enemy but the explosion spawns at the center, missing enemies entirely. Ipecac explosions could scale with the tear's size to correct this, big or small.
Coin drops from Yellow Champions spawn multiple coins on top of the same location, so what looks like one penny is actually multiple
To add, the amount of coins/coin type dropped by these Champions may be unseeded.
With Dim/Vibrant Bulb and Schoolbag, stats aren't updated when items are swapped, allowing for the stat-ups to be permanent as long as long as the current item's charge isn't updated or stats are updated through other means.
Equality can duplicate the pickup you have just picked up to activate it, because it changes the state of the pickup from "Despawning from collection" to "Spawning as a double version of the pickuptype".
Immaculate Conception's counter does not go up if you're granted hearts directly via an item, only through pickups.
The poison clouds from Contagion can harm your permanently charmed enemies.
In the Backasswards challenge, the first room of the floor is made visible on the map through the Mom's Dresser icon, unintentionally giving the player a sort of compass for the challenge.
Accessing the Error room at Basement 1 of the Backasswards challenge will softlock the run.
Greed mode can become softlocked from teleporting to a secret room, by an Eden that starts with Undefined or as any character with Dead Sea Scrolls.
In Backasswards, bosses can be encountered twice in a row without remembering which ones you've already fought (For example, you fight a boss at Caves 2, but you fight it again at Caves 1)
Sacrificial Altar can be used infinitely if consumed by the Void.
Lvl 2 Bumbo walks through objects as if he has flight
Killing the legs of Daddy Long Legs/Triachnid during the "scatter stomp" will have the legs play the death animation of the whole boss, despite the boss not actually being dead. This causes two heads of the boss to appear for about a second.
In the Ultra Hard challenge, trapdoors to both Sheol and the Cathedral can spawn, despite only given the Negative.
If Shovel Piece 2 is picked up without having Piece 1, the shovel cannot be formed even after picking up Piece 1 again. This can be done by swapping active items within the Boss Rush room.
"Usually when a Boss Challenge Room is adjacent to a Secret Room, you can bomb into it. However, if you encounter Greed instead, the side which you'd bomb yourself through will have the barred door sprite and won't unlock/be bombable even after the fight ends." and "If you bomb yourself into a Boss Challenge Room and leave without starting it, the bombed entrance will seal again. (not sure if intentional)" - Sebastianey
Champion bosses don't drop the hearts they're supposed to if there are multiple bosses in the same room, unless they are killed last. This leads to issues such as Champion drops in Boss Rush, or Mask of Infamy Champions never dropping hearts since only the Heart is considered a Champion.
Or, spawning both Angels at the same time in one Angel Room (from some layouts having 2 statues) only dropping 1 key piece after the battle.
"If you have the broken remote equipped and you use Moms Shovel in the room where you unlock the forgotten, you teleport out, don't unlock the forgotten and then can not unlock the forgotten on that run. Please do not ask me how I know this." - talking-box
Sacrificial Altar will be consumed if used with 7 Seals, but will not award a Devil Deal item or remove 7 Seals.
Angry Fly cannot be sacrificed with the altar despite being a living familiar.
Sulfuric Acid does not break rocks/open secret rooms when you also have spectral tears, rendering the item mostly ineffective.
Widow appears to have some troubles spawning Sacks with her white creep attack often. Many times the attack will fail to spawn the Sack, and sometimes she'll attempt the spawn several times in a row and fail each time. At first I thought she was on a cooldown before she can spawn another, and that might be the case, but there can be long periods of time where she keeps failing to spawn. Hard to judge if this is intended behavior or not.
Eden can randomize the passive Broken Shovel piece, which shouldn't be possible for them (like how they can't randomize into the key pieces)
When you lose Schoolbag via rerolling or other methods and have two active items, the game doesn't drop the second item to the floor and still acts as if you have Schoolbag.
Same behavior also occurs with Mom's Purse/Starter Deck when those items are lost via D4/Clickeother items or methods, the effect isn't removed.
When you use a Sacrifice Room until you get two "You've been blessed" messages, the Found HUD will incorrectly state that you have a 100% Angel chance, when the actual percentage is closer to 65%.
Using Pause with permanently charmed enemies, if you exit the room while still paused, your allies will be frozen until you use Pause again.
For the Sin Collector achievement, intended to be unlocked at full bestiary completion, is bugged in that it incorrectly counts entities that aren't in the bestiary. Now with plenty of new rooms with the Broken Maw, it should be a bit more reasonable to 100% the bestiary if fixed.
The "How to play" floor doodles in Greed mode disappear if you reenter the main room from the Silver Treasure Room (but reappear if you exit from any other room)
Hush's Blue Gapers are only registered/counted in the bestiary if you encounter them in one of the few rare rooms they're in, making them harder to get an entry for than they should be.
Accessing Devil/Angel rooms through different methods generates a completely different Devil/Angel layout even when using the same seed. So accessing a Devil Room through the boss, Joker, Red Chest, etc. all leads to different layouts generating, which can cause "unseeded" issues with races/Daily Runs.
Rerolls done by the D20 (and the Dice Rooms?) are unseeded
Broken Stopwatch's time effect (notably speed up) can be removed by exiting and continuing a run.
The last wave of Boss Rush only gives 1 item charge instead of the usual 2 for other waves.
Dark Princes Crown + Strength: With all soul hearts and using Strength for the temporary heart, which triggers the crown, the crown continues to glow in later rooms despite being inactive
Ultra Pride's baby has a roughly 1/50 chance to be replaced by an Angel Baby.
If the primary player is playing with a controller and a second player joins with the keyboard, they are immediately sent into the game with a random baby instead of being able to select a baby.
Longstanding bug: Wrath of the Lamb alt floors unlock when you kill every available boss on the vanilla floors. However, for The Basement/Cellar, Gemini counts for two bosses, and The Cellar unlock counter will only count whichever of the two is killed last. Meaning, the larger twin (Contusion) will only count when the baby is killed first.
There is some sort of failsafe in the game to prevent getting stuck in certain rooms by waiting long enough. While it isn't completely understood, this failsafe does not seem like it has the ability to open boss doors, still resulting in a softlock, as well as some reports that there's rooms you can softlock in with pressure plates (Notably ones surrounded by Red Poop, which you can't destroy without bombs in blindfold challenge runs) that don't open from this failsafe.
SYNERGY BUGS/ISSUES
Ludovico + Fruit Cake: The Ludo tear eventually splits apart into tons of other tears, and all those tear eventually split as well, repeating infinitely while also creating a storm of stuck Trisagion beams.
Ludo + Fruit Cake + Monstro's Lung: Causes the added tears to permanently take on the first Fruit Cake effect when entering a room.
Tractor Beam + Pop! + Continuum: Very buggy interaction, as the tears never fall as they're too busy bouncing off each other trapped in the tractor beam. This can cause the stream to be very visually buggy, especially with hitboxes, and it's assumed this eventually reaches the tear cap.
Dr. Fetus + Scatter Bombs + Fire Mind (Not Hot Bombs): Causes the fires created by scatter bombs to harm the player.
Tech X does not synergize with Azazel's Brimstone, which is inconsistent with other Brimstone synergies with him.
Guppy + Mom's Knife: Does not generate flies, while Knife + Mulligan spawns flies just fine
Ludovico makes Sprinkler entirely ineffective, as the Sprinkler no longer fires any tears.
Proptosis + Soy Milk + Ipecac: It's impossible to fire without hurting yourself, as your Ipecac bomb explodes right in front of your face. This is caused by the awful, awful range given by Soy Milk + Proptosis.
Brimstone + Ipecac + Ghost Pepper: If an Ipecac shot launches at the same time as a Ghost Pepper fire while charging, the Ipecac will collide with the fire and blow up in the player's face, resulting in unavoidable damage.
The current Brim + Ipecac combo is also odd, as the two now fire separately while prior to AB+ Ipecac just made Brimstone green + deal poison. It's unclear if this is intentional or a bug.
Ludo + Ghost Pepper: The ludo tear is oddly destroyed by touching the Ghost Pepper fires, respawning the tear at the player's position.
Monstro's Lung + Chocolate Milk w/ Incubus: Fired shots from Incubus will deal 1/10th the normal damage, the lowest damage Chocolate Milk shots. This can kill a run with Lilith unintentionally.
Breath of Life double-charged with The Battery: The item still works but the charge gauge doesn't visually update, making it a bit harder to pinpoint when exactly it will be fully charged again or when to release the use button.
When you have Technology 2 + Lead Pencil, you can no longer fire tears.
Ludo + Brimstone + Dr. Fetus is entirely broken, with a static, non-animated Brimstone ring you can't control fixed to your character.
Same bug occurs with Ludo + Technology/Mom's Knife + Dr. Fetus
The interaction between Ludo + Bookworm transformation is very visually buggy.
Ludo + Explosivo: Synergy is broken. The Ludo tear sticks to the enemy, rapidly grows, then "splashes" with no explosion, dealing almost no damage. Attached video: https://youtu.be/c_AyTj-AG9I
Ludovico + Sinus Infection: Similar occurs as above, where the tear sticks to the opponent for hardly 2 ticks then respawns at the player.
Godhead and Eye of Belial: The aura around the tears won’t deal damage after the tear hits an enemy.
BFFS! does not increase the damage of fly turrets spawned with Brown Nugget, despite increasing the size of the flies.
Bomber Boy halves the damage of bomb-based familiars (Bob's Brain/BBF) without giving them the cross explosion, directly nerfing them if you have Bomber Boy.
Void + White Pony doesn't create light beams
Lump of Coal + Maw of the Void/Athame: Halves the damage of the void ring.
Metronome has a few buggy reactions with various item effects, some of which I have taken from the Wiki:
Car Battery messes with Metronome, making Isaac show one item effect above his head, when actually that effect is replaced by a second, unknown item effect.
Item effects cannot be stacked if used several times in one room, which also leads to issues such as with the Car Battery.
Items do not spawn consumables that they would when picked up normally.
Items that change Isaac's size do not change Isaac's size (and should revert them afterwards)
HP Ups are not reverted, seems slightly unintentional and should instead function sorta like the Strength card. You can easily max out health by simply using Metronome enough.
The item safeguards you by blacklisting certain items such as Glowing Hour Glass and Plan C so it doesn't screw you up. However, D4, D100, D Infinity, and Clicker can all still be randomized, resulting in very undesired results.

GRAPHICS
The scale factor of the Angel and Devil Room door animations are entirely off, resulting in some stray/buggy pixels. This mod corrects this.
With a charging item, if you pick up another item that removes the charge (Such as Mom's Knife + Ludo) while charging, the charging bar animation will become stuck and persist through rooms/floors
The Chest also has extremely noticeable seams in the flooring in nearly every room
The creator of the "More Dirt Sprites" mod has chimed in to say that he has since updated his mod for support for several other dirt types in the game. Specifically: Depths, Necropolis Blue Womb, and Sheol. Considering how well the new colors match the given floors, it would be nice to have them added for more consistency.
The Frail does not properly update its dirt color to match the current floor color when it turns into its skeletal form.
Permanently charmed enemies do not update their dirt color when changing floors
Suggested fix for a lot of dirt sprite issues: Make dirt sprites dependent on backdrop instead of floor.
All Vis enemies are missing their butts in their sprite when firing upwards.
When dying to an enemy of an unknown source, the game defaults to using The Matriarch's death doodle. A known attack that triggers this is the bullets fired from The Lamb's body.
Dying from contact damage from a Turdling uses the death doodle of Black Maw, not Turdling's.
Crown of Light mistakenly glows as if it's active when it's not when the player has empty red hearts but some soul hearts.
When using a controller, the "Press Tab for-" text does not change its appropriate button graphic (In this case, Tab) for toggling mods or viewing modded challenges, while meanwhile this functionality already exists to change the text for "Press [button] for Daily Challenge"
Viewing Daddy Long Legs or Triachnid in the bestiary, backing out and scrolling to the bottom of the Challenge list creates a visual bug involving those bosses' legs.
L-shaped rooms and closet/hallway rooms in the Dark Room lack the "crumbling platform" sprite at the bottom of the floor.
Dark Prince's Crown lacks an apostrophe in its in-game name, when the item has one when named in the Steam Achievement and secret unlock banner.
Baby and Angelic Baby enemies can fire without playing their firing animation/sound if the fire right after they come in from a teleport.
Hosts, Mobile Hosts, and their flesh versions can sometimes fire bullets without animation/sound when coming out of the Fear status effect.
Whereas the Blank Candle (and by extension Dagaz) was updated in the patch to fade away Curse of Darkness, the Night Light item still has an instant Curse of Darkness removal.
Incubus has a custom Brimstone shooting sprite, but it goes unused.
On the main menu, selecting Hard mode darkens the UI. However, Greed and Greedier both keep the darkened screen, when only Greedier should logically have it (As it's the Greed hard mode)
The "light ring" from Holy Mantle does not appear when you have flight, which can make it harder to judge when you get hit (Especially as The Lost).
There's an inconsistency in the designs of the co-op baby secret unlock banners. All of the co-op babies unlocked from hardmode Mom's Heart read "You unlocked '(name)'". However, all the co-op baby unlocks added in further DLCs read "'(name)' has appeared in the basement," incorrectly presenting them as if the babies are items to find rather than co-op buddies. This can cause some confusion when you wouldn't be able to tell if "Fart Baby" is a co-op baby or not at first glance on unlock.
Also contributed are fixed unlock banners for Sacrificial Dagger, which is incorrectly named "Sacrificial Knife" in the current banner, and optionally Blood Rights, which currently uses a bloody pentagram for its art instead of what it actually is, a razor (which is very likely intentional, but just in case).
In The Void, rooms with the Dark Room room graphic lack the purple cloud background effect the floor has, while all other room designs in The Void have their layers and graphics intact. Hard to tell if it's an oversight or intentional.
Mongo Baby has a left-facing sprite in its spritesheet, but is never used, and instead the right-firing sprite is mirrored for it instead - AdministrativeCreme
This is also true for Rotten Baby (+ Lil Delirium form of it). And stage 2 of Ball of Bandages. All 3 of these familiars have custom left-facing sprites that aren't used. The left-facing sprite of stage 2 Ball of Bandages does not blink when shooting, which should be corrected if fixed.

Gold and Red Chests, when acting as item pedestals, lack their black outline
Battery Baby/Lil Chest and similar familiars lack a bobbing up-and-down idle animations. Even the key pieces bob up and down, so they should too.
When you have an item that grants wings (Such as Fate or Lord of the Pit), and obtain the Guppy transformation afterwards (in that order), the wings will only show when the body is facing up, and is invisible in all other cardinal directions.
Pride's body does not change color in its walking animation when Pride is inflicted with a status effect.
Hush Flies in the bestiary use the black fly sprite/animation instead of their own sprite
Fred enemies spawned by the Mr. Fred boss (And potentially other bosses that spawn burrowing enemies) don't check to see what dirt color the room has, so it's always Womb red.
The Era Walk unlock banner has two stray pixels on it
Graphical oddity: Normal/Stone/Spiked/etc. Chests when opened in The Chest or Dark Room immediately change their item pedestal graphic to a Golden or Red Chest respectively depending on the floor no matter the original chest type. Similar happens with Slot Machine entities where they could use their broken graphic as an item pedestal, but instead use a generic item pedestal.
Trisagion shots look graphically odd when fired with Haemolacria, with the blood particles arching above the shot.
Same with Trisagion + Flat Stone, where the beams rapidly grow and dissipate
Saving and quitting while Mega Blast is active causes the player to have a stuck M. Blast firing animation
Bloody Lust is misnamed as "Blood Lust" on Samson's character select.
Lilith's character select does not mention her starting with Box of Friends. This may be to reduce clutter, though Eve is able to have all 3 of her items listed.
Same could also be said about Lazarus' pill and Azazel's card, seeing how it now mentions that Maggy starts with a pill.
The Steam achievement icon for Missing No. has a Challenge Reward background color instead of the Boss Rush color. It could hold true for the glitch theme of the item, but Undefined is also unlocked via Boss Rush and that achievement icon has the proper green background color.
The Suicide King achievement has a Boss Rush color instead of a Challenge run color. There may have been a swap between Missing No. and Suicide King unlocks somewhere during development.
Bone Baby's Steam achievement background color is golden, which doesn't match with the other co-op babies also unlocked by clearing the hard mode post-it note 100%. Though this is also the background color for Godhead, so alternatively all the hard-mode completion unlocks could be gold to all match.
The Locust of War Steam achievement is still incorrectly named Wrath even though the name was changed.
Various achievements are using their old sprites, like Karma and Abaddon. This is extremely minor however, and previous versions still use the older sprites
The 7 Seals secret unlock icon borrowed from console versions features the old sprite design for the item instead of the new one. If anyone in the community is willing to make up a new unlock sprite for it I'll throw it into the post right here.
Mega Satan's boss room has some particularly messy floor graphics, with the crumbling floor sprite being visibly cut off, to the pits at the top of the room being visible in a messy way. This Workshop mod fixes up these graphics to help make it look a lot more clean (It also fixes up the pit graphics for Dark Room, which can look particularly odd when boss rooms in The Void use the Dark Room tileset).

On dailies/challenges if your objective is to reach Mega Satan you start the run with both Key Pieces. If you open the Mega Satan door (getting rid of your Key) and use Forget-Me-Now afterwards, you're granted both Key Pieces again. However, if you instead go through a trapdoor (e.g. through a Normal Button in a Secret Room) the Key Pieces do not respawn again.
In general, I Am Error rooms are disabled on the last floors of challenges/daily runs. However, if the final destination floor ends up being an XL floor (Depths, Womb), the I Am Error room will still spawn, allowing unintended skipping of the destination.
LINUX EXCLUSIVE
EDIT: Linux supposedly got a large batch of fixes/missing features in the patch notes. I need Linux players to help report if there are any remaining issues, or if Linux is matched with the PC version now.
In Daily or seeded runs, the seed appears to be different/inconsistent on Linux with other OS's. I am unsure if different OS's use different Daily scoreboards, but this comment chain has a small report of this potential seed inconsistency.
SWITCH EXCLUSIVE
The playback of most of the endings are incorrectly sped up. Most of the Epilogue, and endings 17 through Finale all play fine. However, the end of the Epilogue (The part where Isaac's mother opens the door) plays back at hyper speed, and Endings 1 through 16 all play back at a slightly faster speed (Most noticeable in endings 13, 14, 15).
Sometimes sound effects appear to be dropped and fail to play. It doesn't appear to be that consistent or easily replicable.
YO LISTEN!'s glow effect is incorrectly offset from the sprite itself
If you die with Guppy's Collar, exit and reenter the software, then continue the run, you'll die again as expected but the Guppy's Collar revive chance is rolled again, allowing you to exploit the item.
